My phone number was taken over
If your phone suddenly has no service, someone may have moved your number.
Free for everyone. If you are in danger right now, call 911.
1.Call your carrier from another phone
Use the number on your bill or the carrier website. Ask them to restore your number and to add a port-out PIN or extra security passcode.
2.Secure your email and bank accounts
Change those passwords from a device you trust, and move sign-in codes from text messages to an authenticator app or passkey.
3.Tell your bank
Use the number on the back of your card. Ask them to watch for transfers and password resets.
4.Freeze your credit
A freeze stops new accounts being opened in your name. It is free and you can lift it any time.
5.Report it
Report the identity theft and the takeover.
