County level only · your exact location never leaves your phone

Scams reported near you, this week.

The Wire is a calm, dated list of the scams reported in your county, from official sources and local news, with what to do about each. Free, in the app, for every county we cover.

What a county board shows

  • 01Scam pressure: how this week compares with a typical week for the county, and whether it is rising.
  • 02Reports near you: each with its source, its date and the one thing to do.
  • 03Local news: what the police and the paper are warning about, linked.
  • 04Share a heads-up: one tap to warn family, with nothing about you in it.

The short answer

Updated 22 October 2026 · Reviewed by the Sigrel team, Texas

Scams run in waves, and the wave is local. The same unpaid-toll text or “IRS” call hits one county for a week, then moves on. Official complaint data, local news and neighbour reports show the wave while it is happening. Sigrel’s Wire gathers those for your county, dates each report, says where it came from, and tells you the one thing to do, so you recognise the call before you pick up.

Questions

Plain answers.

Which county am I in, and can I change it?

In the app you pick your county once, or let it be set from your approximate location at county level. You can change it any time. Sigrel never uses or stores a precise location.

Where do the reports come from?

Official sources such as the FTC, the FCC and state attorneys general, local news outlets, and neighbours who report through Sigrel. Each card names its source and date.

How often does it update?

On a schedule you can see; every card shows when it was collected. There is no live feed and no claim of one.

Can I get alerts?

Area Alerts are optional: a push when a confirmed scam is reported in your area, never between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m., and at most a few a week.

Is there a web version of the Wire?

The county pages are being built. Today the Wire is in the app and on the signed-in web dashboard; this page will show your county’s board when the public read is live.

See what is going around your county.

Free. Pick your county once; nothing more precise is ever used.
